Why this matters
I am not a pessimist about AI. I use it every day. I help businesses use it. I've watched it transform how people work, create and lead.
But I've also watched the conversation narrow. The mainstream story of AI has become: adopt or fall behind. Use the tools or lose the race. And that framing, relentlessly optimistic and relentlessly commercial, is leaving something out.
The something it's leaving out is: who decides. Who built these systems, and what did they optimise for? Who benefits most from the current trajectory? What happens to the people who can't keep up, or who were never included in the first place?
These aren't abstract questions. They're the questions that will define the next twenty years. I don't have all the answers. But I think the conversation is too important to leave to the people building the systems.

Every AI system reflects the values of the people who built it. The question isn't whether AI is biased. It is. The question is: whose values are being encoded, and who gets to decide?
We may be building a new feudal system and calling it progress.
At one end: a small group of people with unprecedented wealth, capability and control. At the other: everyone else. The gap isn't narrowing. The question is whether we're paying attention.
The myths we tell ourselves about AI are slowing us down.
AI will take all the jobs. AI will solve everything. AI is neutral. None of these are true. And the stories we choose to believe have real consequences for how we respond.
